My journey at Mary Lin began as a parent. My family and I quickly fell in love with the school, and I enjoyed volunteering in classrooms and helping with class activities and special projects. After the birth of my second child, I was ready to return to teaching and began working at Mary Lin as a substitute teacher. Soon afterward, I was invited to join the faculty full-time as a second-grade teacher.
Teaching second grade was a wonderful experience. I loved watching my students become more independent, develop confidence in their abilities, and grow academically as they prepared for the transition to third grade.
Three years ago, I was ready for a new opportunity, and when a Pre-K position became available, I eagerly accepted it. It has been one of the most rewarding experiences of my career. I am honored to work with our youngest learners, helping them build self-confidence, develop a love of learning, and celebrate each new milestone. Watching them grow throughout the year and leave Pre-K excited, confident, and ready to shine in kindergarten is truly one of the greatest joys of teaching.

She embodies a spirit of learning, perseverance, and fun.
If you don’t spot her at school (which you likely will because she’s always there), you might find her rocking out at churches and events around the city, sharing her passions through song. Miss Gosha hopes that she is a cherished member of the Mary Lin family. And like our own cheerleader, she sends out her infectious "Yay!" to support our students, colleagues, and community.

Specials Teachers
Spanish/ESOL Teacher

Dr. Monica Waldman - Spanish/ESOL Teacher
She grew up in Mexico City and speaks Spanish and 6 other languages. She got her Ph.D. in Clinical Neuropsychology and did a post-doctoral fellowship at Yale University in psychiatric genetics, but says teaching is where her heart is now. She feels confident in her knowledge of the curriculum for students. She brings to the classroom an understanding of child development and effective methodologies to engage students in learning and believes this is how successful learning takes place.
She feels fortunate to have had the opportunity to teach in very different school settings for the last few years and believes all of these experiences have shaped her as an educator. It is her belief that all children can achieve high standards and succeed in the classroom, and while they may not all get there at the same time or in the same way, they will all get there! To make this happen she makes it her primary goal to get to know each child as an individual and understand how they learn best. In addition to the high expectations she sets for students academically, she also believes in teaching the whole child, and that social development is as equally important as academic growth. She believes that character, motivation, and perseverance are what determine success in life. She believes in the power of children and the awesome influence a teacher holds. Through songs, games, drama, art, and movement exercises her students learn to understand and communicate in Spanish.
When she’s not in the classroom, she loves to walk with her dog or at home with her twins or playing board games with her family. She believes Mary Lin Elementary is a place to promote student inquiry, exploration and knowledge construction. As she continues to improve each year, she values parent input and suggestions to help build a strong Spanish program.

Physical Education Teacher

Dr. Stephanie Bennett-Walker - PE Teacher
“Woohoo, it’s P.E. Day!” This sentiment from the students keeps me providing the most comprehensive, varied, engaging, and of course, FUN, PE lessons to our Lin Rockets. Here at Lin, the status quo of PE teachers “just throwing out balls” does not exist. I want our students to enjoy physical activity and movement, so they will value fitness, and continue to move for a lifetime. They will have the basic skills and self-confidence necessary to join any intramural or “pick-up” game or participate in individual physical activities.
After more than 30 years as an elementary PE teacher, my passion has not diminished. In fact, it has grown. I know the importance and impact PE has on today’s generation of technology-saturated students. I continue to take part in workshops that explore/create age-appropriate activities that compel student participation, foster teamwork, integrate core subjects, develop sports skills, and promote sportsmanship. However, my formal pedagogical training began at THE Ohio State University (B.S. and M.A.), and my Doctorate from the University of Southern Mississippi.
As a former collegiate track athlete (400m) at The Ohio State University, I continue to embody the importance of health and fitness. I like to “practice what I preach.” As physical education teachers we are the "face" of a healthy lifestyle to our students, and as such, are role models.
In my spare time, I enjoy traveling, playing tennis, watching American Ninja Warrior and cheering for THE OHIO STATE BUCKEYES! OH!

Her teaching journey began in 2004, with the majority of her career in Gifted Education with a heavy focus on science. She brings a wealth of life science background knowledge to the table as a former educator at Zoo Atlanta as well as studying the Monarch Butterfly migration in Mexico. As Mary Lin’s STEAM teacher, she has the privilege of guiding students through hands-on experiments, coding activities, and engineering design challenges that foster critical thinking and problem-solving skills. She loves PBLs, environmental education, and animals… and she loves to share our STEAM ambassador animals at school!
She enjoys exploring new technologies, conducting fun, engaging science experiments, and motivating students to tap into their inner imaginations to solve real-world problems. She believes every child has the potential to become a future innovator and leader in STEAM fields, and she’s committed to nurturing that potential in each student.
Beyond the classroom, she is an avid equestrian and has trained her horse, Khonstellation ABC++++//, to the national spotlight all on her own. Having him since he was a yearling, they have garnered 8 National Championships to date. She loves sharing these experiences with her students, encouraging them to also chase their dreams. She is also passionate about international travel and exploring new cultures and spectacular places.
She looks forward to inspiring and supporting the educational journey of all Mary Lin students in STEAM this year. After all, at Mary Lin, we will be known by the problems we solve!
