Our School

Mary Lin Elementary was founded in 1929 as part of the Atlanta Public Schools system. The school was named after the 27-year-principal, Miss Mary Lin. We are one of Atlanta Public Schools' shining examples of student success, innovation, and community-centered learning. We are nestled within the Candler Park neighborhood, right across the street from Candler Park's beautiful golf course and just two miles from downtown Atlanta.
Our students live within the Candler Park and Lake Claire communities. Mary Lin Elementary provides a world-class academic education experience with over 500 students in grades pre-kindergarten through fifth grade, with a focus on STEAM programming to bring hands-on experiences to our students, preparing them for the critical thinking and problem solving that is needed in today's ever-changing world.
Mary Lin is one of the premier elementary schools within the Atlanta Public Schools system, consistently performing in the top 10% of the state on standardized tests, showing progress in both achievement and growth. Our students continue to Howard Middle School and Midtown High School. Our talented teachers, staff, administrators and our dedicated parents work together to provide each student with a nurturing learning environment that meets their individual needs.
Mission
The mission of Mary Lin Elementary is to educate our students through meaningful, interdisciplinary experiences. Partnerships among students, teachers, and the community will prepare our students to be caring and creative risk-takers ready for the world.
Vision
Our vision is to foster students who are lifelong, proactive learners. Our students will be clear communicators who use innovative problem-solving to address the complex issues facing our community and world.
Motto
We will be known by the problems we solve.
Mascots
Mary Lin students are known as the "Rockets," and we had a new mascot join the team in 2024, named "Astro" - voted on by the Mary Lin community!
